Jan 31 Day 5 I think. Lol

Started the day at the beach tanning and reading. Watching the swallows, dipping, and diving around my face. ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿคฃ Then into the pool for beers and sunshine. Back to the casita for lunch then off on a boat tour to Black Beards Bar and grill at Cerros Sands, which is across the bay. Garnet barely kicked my ass at a game of darts. Brenda shopped for shirts and hats. Garnet has a new Gilligan look! LOL After a few cocktails and snacks, we were back on the boat for a sunset cruise. Then to the Casita for relaxation, and over to the Orchid Bay bar for supper of fish and chips. Ending our day, relaxing in the screened porch. Listening to the crickets.

Jan 30 Day 4 Pool day

Well!! ๐Ÿ˜ณ Got up at 3:30am to pee and saw a scorpion scurry quickly under the door into Brenda and Garnets room. After finishing in the bathroom and googling how poisonous Belizian scorpions are I decided to wake them up and tell them they have a scorpion in their room. They jumped out of bed and with my phone flashlight Garnet finally found him under their suitcase. Brenda was suppose to video us catching him but she was so intrigued with the goings on, she videoed the floor and watched over top her phone. We have an awesome audio taping of us hunting and Garnet smacking it to death with the fly swatter ๐Ÿคฃ So back to bed by 4am and awakened abruptly by scratching and clunking of something in the loft at 745. Garnet scaled the ladder but could not find our next creepy crawler. Hopefully tonight it doesn’t  rear it’s ugly face. Lots of crawlers down here. ๐Ÿ˜ค Well after a fantastic breakfast down to the pool for sun and drinks. Oh wait they are doing aqua size in the pool. Brenda and I decided to join in. Canada could take lessons as it was great. Right after exercising on the way to the bar Brenda spots what we think is the most poisonous snake in Belize, the copper snake, but not sure. Garnet moved it to the grassy area.. He was so brave, but oh wait it was dead. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Now for beers and pina colada’s at the beach. Read and sunned most of the afternoon. Visited with some Americans and other fellow Canadians at the pool. Booked a few more adventures for tomorrow,Thursday and Friday.  Back to our casita for homemade Mexican supper. Delicious!! Now we are having drinks in the front screened porch.  We can hear creepy crawlers all around us.  I’ve shut the front door to stop them from attacking us in the night.  ๐Ÿ˜ณ

The infamous scorpion. Wish I could post the video. Lol

Jan 29 Day 3 Tour of Corozal

Today we started our day with a tour of  Corozal Town. Our driver Roger picked us up at 9 in Belizian time, so about 9:15 and off we went. Across 2 hand crank ferries and into town. Stopped for lunch at a typical Belizian Restaurant for Fry Jack burrito. (Like elephant ear fried dough filled with sausage, eggs and spices) delicious!  Then to the market for some road beers and off to Consejo town across from the Mexican border. As we walked to the shoreline a huge Iguana ran out from under a rock and scared the crap out of me. Omg what a view across the bay, Chetumal, Mexico. On the way back we stopped at pub where Brenda and I got chased by a goose trying to get a pic. Lol Then some more shopping at a village market and to the “One Market” for a few groceries. Then back to the resort for soup night where the communities gather to socialize and have supper together.  Met Brenda and Garnets friends Laurie and Murray, who own a beautiful house on the other side of the bay in Cerros Sands. Finally relaxing in our covered porch for the evening. Another fun filled day.

Jan 28 Day 2 Pool/ beach day

What a beautiful place!  Gardens with tropical flowers and palm trees everywhere. Started with coffee on the front porch watching the ocean then off to the pool for some beers.  Fish and chips in the restaurant for lunch. Met David, the manager of the resort and booked a tour of the town of Corozal for tomorrow. Over to the beach for a walk/ swim to the end of the pier and back for some sun/shade and for more beers and reading.  Brenda had a nap. One cloud produced a 10 min rain so back to the casita and then for a walk all around the resort. This resort has the most beautiful gardens that I’ve seen. So many colourful blooms of different flowers. Back to the casita for supper and some drinks. Over to the bar after supper to watch Stacey’s SanFrancisco 49ers win and are now going to the Super Bowl. Brought a happy tear to my eye. Been a fantastic relaxing day.

Jan 27 Arrival to Belize

Today I left home at 4am to be at the airport for 6. Left the car at the park n jet and on the shuttle to the airport. Sat next to a nice couple from Sparwood BC on a week long holiday. Plane was delayed 3/4 hour cause the shitter was broken. Lol. Took 10 min to fix and 35min for the paper work. ๐Ÿงป. Haha. Great flight. Brenda and Garnet came on the resort shuttle to picked me up. What a drive to the resort! The highways here are more like quad trails out west. So many pot holes and speed bumps on the gravel road were interesting. Stopped a couple times for beers and bathroom. Saw a crocodile in the river. After two hours we came to a small ferry crossing with a hand crank. Brenda and I got out of the car to give the operator a beer and took turns helping him crank the ferry across the river. On to the Orchid Bay resort. I’d say beautiful resort but it’s absolutely jet black outside and haven’t seen anything except our little casita. Night critters chirping around us as we sit in the screened porch. Over to the Crimson roof top bar for appies and a margarita. It’s a party with DJ and lots of dancing. Met a few locals. Now having a night cap on the porch. Watching for creepy crawlers lol.

Jan 20 - 1 more week

Jan 20

6 years today since Stacey passed away and  I want to be home to celebrate her this year. Today I will go to the cemetery and then out for drinks to cheers her with Lynn, Kyle, Bryony, Kim and Roger. Next week at this time though, I will be taking off for Belize to meet up with Brenda and Garnet for 3 weeks. They have sent pics of the amazing Orchid Bay Resort. So many adventures ahead. Its still -19C here today so the +30C weather will be so welcoming.

My shopping is nearly complete for the trip, but will get a collapsable beach beer cooler today. Then I should be set.

Jan 12 -39C this morning

So today is finally here for Brenda and Garnet. Im picking them up at 12 and driving to the fancy Clique Hotel to stay for 1 night before their flight to Belize. Good timing guys. Its -39C this morning and its going down to -45C tonight. They are leaving at an optimal time. Im kinda jealous, but am so excited to meet them down there in 2 weeks. (If I dont freeze first). Its so cold outside that Swiffer takes 2 secs to freeze his feet, so hes an inside dog for now. Good thing Melissa paper trained him too.

Jan 6 - 3 weeks til Belize

 January 6, 2024

5 years today since Melissa's passing and Im home today to celebrate her. Its also 3 weeks until I venture off to Belize to meet up with my sister Brenda and husband Garnet for 3 weeks of fun in the sun. They have a little casita on the beach rented at the Orchid Bay Resort. With luck it has a loft with a single bed for me. Mike can't make it on this trip again so Im going solo. Thank you for the wonderful invite. With thoughts deep in my heart today my motto is to "travel while you can as you can never trust the future". Mike bought me a snorkel and mask for Christmas and I picked up some packing cubes on a recommendation from my sister in law Karen and Neice Pam. My suitcase isnt completely unpacked from my Disney trip in November with my nephew Kyle and his family, so Im nearly ready to go. So excited.

Feb 17 3 weeks done

Where did the time go! Can’t believe it’s over. Back to reality today! Left our little casita for the last time around 9 am.  Brenda and Ga...
